Award:
President's Volunteer Service Award
This award is a national program recognizing those who stand out as volunteers in their community. Kathleen M. Reidy, VP Communications, was selected for her for outstanding support to our soldiers, receiving a letter from President George W. Bush, a certificate and pin.
AUSA
National Awards Best Chapter for
2006-2007
The Fort Monmouth Chapter of AUSA has been selected by AUSA National as
Best Chapter in our size category. Our Chapter has also been recognized
in the following categories: Chapter of Excellence, President's
Club-Gold, Star Chapter, Special Awards (3), Superior Chapter, Merit
Chapter, Best Chapter Newsletter, Best Chapter Website, Greatest
Corporate Membership, Best Corporate Member Support, Excellence in
Corporate Membership Growth, Take the Hill, Electronic Chapter, ILW
Streamer, Army Birthday, Army History, Support to Army Recruiting
Command and Lewis and Clark.
We also received very high marks in these categories: Runner up for
Best General Membership Meeting, Commendable Performance for support of
Reserve Components, Honorable Mention for Greatest Percentage Increase
in Membership, Runner Up for Greatest Percentage Increase in Retiree
Membership, Runner Up for Greatest Government Civilian Employee
Membership and Runner up for Most Active in Pursuit of Objectives.
Chapter President Bob Fasulo will be accepting the Streamer for Best
Chapter on October 8, 2007, during the AUSA Annual National Meeting in
Washington, D.C.
The Fort Monmouth Chapter has informally been nicknamed the Peacock
Chapter based on all the colorful streamers we have received over the
years and this year will be no exception. These streamers are presented
each year during AUSA's Annual Meeting. Every year each Chapter's
activities are evaluated and upon achievement of established criteria,
the Chapter collects a streamer for their Chapter flag.

Department
of the Army Civilian of the Year, First
Region
2005
was also a banner year for our Chapter
at AUSA’s
Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
Kathleen Reidy, VP Communications, was
selected as the Department of the Army
Civilian of the Year, First Region. No
one from the Fort Monmouth Chapter has
ever won this award. Kathy was
recognized for her career achievements
and her volunteer accomplishments.
AUSA
First Region Special Award
Our
Chapter received a Special Award from
AUSA First Region for the Corporate
Member Appreciation Reception we
sponsored during the 2006 AUSA Winter
Symposium, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Fort Monmouth’s Chapter Local
Awards
In April the Fort Monmouth Army Volunteer Corp recognized several Chapter members for their outstanding volunteer contributions. Department of the Army Certificates of Appreciation for
Patriotic Civilian Service were presented to Kathleen M. Reidy and Paul Tallard.
Department of the Army Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Saddie Colon, Samuel "Pete" Peterson and Anne Williams. Community Service Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Claude Barnes, COL James Costigan, Marcia Owen and Michael Pettitt.
The
42nd DISCOM and the Spartan Brigade
Combat Team sent back Certificates of
Appreciation to members of the Fort
Monmouth Community that assisted in
making their deployments to Iraq a
little more comfortable during 2005.
USMAPS
Graduation
The U.S. Military Academy Preparatory
School held its 2007 Graduation Award
Ceremony on 17 May. Bob Fasulo presented
the Richard T. Shea Award, in honor of
the first Prep School graduate to win
the Congressional Medal of Honor.
OUTSTANDING
VARSITY ATHLETE
Cadet Candidate Thomas J. Palesky
The
Chapter presented awards for the top
overall achiever in each Prep School
Company. A plaque, a free membership in
AUSA, and a $500 Savings Bond was
awarded to these Cadet Candidates (CCs)
at our annual Student Awards Luncheon:

CONTEST
The top eight essays were rewarded with
an AUSA certificate and a Savings Bond.
Bonds ranged in value from $500 for 1st
Place to $75 for Honorable Mention.
