Chapter Objectives


The Fort Monmouth Chapter of AUSA is dedicated to support the objectives of the national AUSA organization with particular focus on the interests and needs of the local Fort Monmouth, New Jersey community. The Chapter develops programs and events that provide community support for America's Army through individual and corporate members. It serves as the liaison between the Army and local civilian communities, and helps educate the public about the needs for a strong national defense and the Army. 

AUSA is a private, nonprofit, professional educational Association of over 105,000 individual, business and organization members dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense with special emphasis on landpower and the essential role of the United States Army. 

The objectives of AUSA are:
People Support - for those in the Army
Force Modernization - for a mission-ready Army
Public Education - about the Army and national defense
Professional Development 

The Fort Monmouth Chapter, with approximately 960 Individual Members and 141 Business Establishments of Corporate America, has been repeatedly recognized for success in furtherance of these objectives, to include multiple consecutive National Honor Awards for "Most Active Chapter in Pursuit of AUSA Objectives.

Chapter Support to the Community

The Fort Monmouth Chapter of AUSA is very involved with our surrounding communities. Some of the following can be found, in more detail, with points of contact, in our Programs link on the home page. Although this is an abbreviated list it will give you a sense of just how active our Chapter is in supporting community events and local groups:

Our Chapter provides monetary support to the Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts, helping to defray some of their expenses.

We attend and participate in the Award Ceremony at Rutgers University ROTC.

We attend and participate in the Officer Candidate School commissioning ceremony for the NJ National Guard at Sea Girt, NJ.

Our chapter donated and hosted a buffet meal and dessert for the entertainers of the Army Soldier Show held at the Fort Monmouth Expo Theater.

AUSA chapter members volunteer every Wednesday for the Taste of Heaven Program, sponsored by the Fort Monmouth Chapel. This program serves a home cooked meal to the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) Cadet Candidates (CCs).

Our Chapter supports the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Seniors volunteer time to assist local grade schools by conducting reading programs. Our chapter's donation was used to purchase books for grades K-6 at one of the local schools. Each student was given two books to use during their reading lessons.

We sponsor the annual one-day seminar hosted by the West Point Society of New Jersey .

Our Chapter, along with other Ft. Monmouth professional organizations, hosts a formal dinner dance and fundraiser in support of our disabled Soldiers and the Fisher House Foundation.

Our Chapter underwrites and co sponsors Fort Monmouth Soldier events held during the year and especially during the Holiday season. Our donations assist in the overall funding of activities conducted by the USMAPS, the Patterson Army Health Clinic and the US Army Garrison.

We funded the purchase of gym equipment to support the fitness facility in the Myer Center .

Our Chapter recognizes the C-E LCMC/Ft. Monmouth Civilian Employees quarterly award winners. The Chapter presents Certificates of Achievement, a US Savings Bond and a one-year membership in AUSA.

Our Chapter recognizes award winners from the Patterson Army Health Clinic. The NCO of the Quarter, the Soldier of the Quarter, the Civilian of the Quarter, Junior and Senior Category receive a myriad of awards to include Certificates of Achievement, US Savings Bonds, trophies and one-year memberships in AUSA.

Our Chapter presents awards to the Army Recruiters of the Year during our annual Veterans' Day luncheon. All winners receive a US Savings Bond and a one-year membership in AUSA.

Our Chapter sponsors the Citizen Scholar Award Program, The Monmouth Regional High School Essay Program, and the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) Academic Achievements awards. We also co sponsor the Monmouth Junior Science Symposium.

Although not geographically considered local community support, our chapter appropriated a donation to support orphanages and schools in the Philippines . 

Two of our soldiers, formerly stationed at Fort Monmouth , were deployed to Iraq . Although no longer geographically close, our Chapter members stepped up in numerous ways to reassure these men and their units that we have not forgotten them. 

In addition to all of the previously mentioned local community support programs our Chapter sponsors/participates in/and presents awards at numerous other activities during the year. Some of those activities include various Army athletic events, Armed Forces Day, Flag Day, Veterans Day, local Memorial Day ceremonies and the USMAPS Graduation Ceremony.

During the USMAPS Graduation ceremony the Chapter presents the Richard T. Shea Athletic award, in honor of the first Prep School graduate to win the Congressional Medal of Honor.
